BIOGRAPHY OF A CYCLONE
interactive audio/visual map
This is a map and multi-layered account of my spiritual awakening in verse. Simultaneously, it is a coded sequence that details the driving forces that have kept our planet in a state of prison (prejudice, envy, sexual misery, fear, toxic substances). A recording of this text can be heard from my reading at Unnameable Books at the 9 minute mark.
Like the image above, the calendar below represents created possibilities within structures. This was created between my 29th and 30th year–a time of great uncertainty, making an incredible shift in my life journey. By automatic drawing over the months of my life, I created a map which to hold onto, a manifest blueprint of events and landscapes I could not yet anticipate or articulate.
TO HAVE TO GRAB TO HOLD
This was drawn over an outline of an 8-spoke wheel. Originally intended to delineate subjects and sections of a book, the image ended up fulfilling the intention behind the book itself, rendering the writing obsolete. It is essentially a cyclical stage through the 5 elements, reflecting how each corresponds to phases spiritual and emotional development, or the process of individuation.
Line to sound
From 2013-2015, I created 166 automatic drawings, syncing line movements to patterns found in avant-garde jazz and experimental electronic music. This somatic exercise, unbeknownst to me at the time, served to dismantle inorganic structures and programs contained in my mental body. As such, they contain codes of liberation - marked by the integration of pain and what we consider opposing forces or subject matter - within a single frame.
During 2016-18 I drew on top of calendars as a way to peer into the energetic direction of my life energies. This served to build trust in my intuition and higher sensory perceptions.
